Shane:
I did this presentation for LUNA 2 years ago but could conceivably haul
in my box again. Bear in mind that a lot has changed since then in terms
of difficulty -- I had to manually compile large chunks of it and edit a
lot of config files; Mythbuntu has streamlined most of the installation
(and I never switched from my install to Mythbuntu), DVD
authoring/burning is now integrated, MythStream grabs internet
audio/video...
FWIW a $70 investment in a tuner card and a $20/annual SchedulesDirect
subscription for XML listings is a pretty good deal even compared to
occasional $59 TiVo sales at Big!Lots. Why more Linux geeks haven't
looked at building one themselves is a mystery to me, since I *know*
y'all watches TV.
