Hey Shane and Chris,
    Both sound like good ways to do it.  I had a 64 bit version of 
Mandriva installed, but the 64 bit OS still lacks support (like 
FlashPlayer).  There were also some other real bugs developing, and I 
found a few articles suggesting that the 64 bit OSes were oddly slower 
than the 32 bit versions.  So, with all that said, I'll be adding both 
of your suggestions to my arsenal or tools and tricks (notes on my palm 
pilot), but have already installed a fresh 32 bit version of Mandriva.  
Life is now back to peachy.
