Jake,
You have many options to get to know Linux with out the fear. That is a big
reason why we are here. Feel free to bring your computer to our regular
monthly meetings on the the third Wednesday of every month. Or you could
pop in a live CD and try Linux without installing or affecting your current
OS. There are many versions of live CDs available. You just download the
iso image, burn it to a cd and then boot from it. Some of the most popular
are knoppix (www.knoppix.org/), DSL (www.damnsmall*linux*.org/), puppy (www.
*puppy**linux*.org/) and Slax (www.*slax*.org/). There are tons more.
Those came off the top of my head and ones that I have experience in.

I have also posted a new thread on the flaglug.org forums with links for new
users. http://flaglug.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=94#p94.<http://flaglug.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=94#p94>

The best advice I can offer to really get to know Linux is put it on your
main computer and get to know it on a day to day basis. That is what got me
over the hump and fully converted. I now run several desktops and several
servers with Linux.

I hope to see you at our next meeting. Feel free to email to the list or
post on our forums.
-Shane
