[Luna] The Future of LUNA

Spose it's about time I spoke up. :-)
I'm the president of ACM, and we are quite alive!
Eck isn't the advisor anymore, because he was forced to become the CS
chair, which doesn't leave much time for club activities and sabbaticals.
James Palmer is our advisor now, and he's been able to put a lot more
effort into things around here.
ACM has recently seen quite a rebirth, and has had double-digit
attendances at all our recent meetings. Of course this doesn't mean ACM
can't be improved with an alliance.
We have meetings every other Thursday at 5:30PM in room 120 of the new
Engineering building. This Thursday (the 26th) is a meeting day!
We are very interested in combining forces! I'd love to see some of the
LUNA crew at our next meeting, and am ready to give a good chunk of
adgenda time to LUNA and to discussion of merging some of our goals and
resources. And once we get the next LUNA meeting time worked out, I'll be
sure ACM makes an effort to reciprocate!
I think that the student body at NAU is the key to both a successful
installfest, and a growing membership for LUNA. :-)
We are also interested in having an official presentation by the USGS at
our next meeting, if such a thing can be arranged with such short notice.
I think James Palmer may have already mentioned this to someone.

I'd talked to John Placer (and I believe Eck too) at a couple DAC meetings about the lackluster participation in NAU ACM, and mentioned the idea of bringing LUNA and ACM together. There's been occasional interest in this group with being more involved at NAU. I've heard ACM's trying to have a bit of a resurgence, with hopes that the fancy new building will provide more stability for the group.
