As one of the founding members of the group, this issue comes up with some
regularity. The current incarnation of the group is essentially the 4th
or 5th rebuild. Generally speaking, attendance and interest has come and
gone with NAU student participation, plus a sprinkling of regulars from
the surrounding region to keep the group alive over summer breaks and
holidays. The ACM or IEEE collaboration idea is a great one.
My $.02 would be to keep the group pure as an open source/GNU/Linux focal
point.
Perhaps it is time to canvas about for a different meeting time?
Personally, I travel all during the week and am unable to attend meetings
except on weekends, and I generally need a bit of notice even for that.
Quite a few people have come thru this group and moved on to relevant
Linux-related work with multiple employers. I suspect many may still lurk
on the list. It would be a shame for that link and resource to go away
entirely.

Most likely if a change in name where to come it would include the LUNA name. If everyone does not want any change to happen then the LUNA group would not change one bit. So don't worry about the group dissolving. We have enough participation to keep on keep'in on.

to save the group before it completely folds. How many folks have been
coming to the meetings? How many of those are *not* USGS people? How many
of the old-timers who started and kept the group for so long have been
attending on a regular basis in the last year?
