[Luna] The Future of LUNA

I realize that I might be throwing sour grapes here, but I really think that
our core focus should be on Linux, and more specifically, functions of the
OS that many users may not be aware of through casual use. Monthly
presentations on different aspects of Linux, such as the buffer cache,
process management, udev, new kernel features, security, networking, etc...
would provide both the presenter and the group an opportunity to expand
their understand of the OS and the benefits of using it. This is not to say
that other topics wouldn't be nice to see on occasion, but we are LUNA, and
that said - I believe we should focus our efforts accordingly.
Taking from what JP said about other topics; when presenting, it would be
great to see parallels draw with other operating systems and how development
practices differ between them (hopefully evangelizing the benefits of open
source). While some of these presentations might be "too complicated", or
lie outside the scope of some users focus, it has been my experience that
when the light bulb is "turned on", enthusiasm to learn more usually
follows. Maybe I'm being to "geeky".... What do you think?
Just my two cents,
-Chris Bradshaw
