Hey guess what, I got it working.
Turns out the Yast firewall really was messing things up. So I turned off the Yast
firewall and will continue to use iptables instead. I hate it when stuff that is intended
to be good turns out to get in the way. Thanks.
Cheers,

Is there anyone on this list who is an expert at setting up a Linux router?
I have been attempting to set up an internal router/firewall using Suse 10.1 and as far as I
can tell I have all of the proper steps in place. Each network card is configured for internal and external IP addresses respectively, IP forwarding is enabled, etc. I run into some trouble when setting up routing with route -add. I am using iptables to setup routing and masquerading. I am new to Suse having used Fedora before and an annoying thing I have found about Suse is that the firewall is obscured behing Yast and seems rather Windowsian from the standpoint that I can't seem to get into the files I need to make this work. This becomes obvious when after I modify iptables for routing the Yast firewall complains that there is another firewall running. I suppose I should just disable the Yast firewall. I am half tempted to reinstall Fedora.
I will spare everyone the details of the steps I have taken to setup routing unless someone is interested in knowing what I have done. One item that sort of complicates
things is that I am attempting to setup routing a couple layers deep. What I mean by that
is I already have a router behind the DSL modem. Any help you guys have to offer by
way of documentation, how-tos on Linux routing would be much appreciated. Thanks.
