[Luna] The Future of LUNA

As one of the less than new people on the list, I'd love to see the minutes
that come out of the meeting. I would love to get more involved with
gnu/LUNA (anyone remember stallman?). My vote is to keep it open source
based and it may be interesting if we put together some sort of learning
sessions that people would like to learn about. For example it seems like
Ernie is in need of some sort of instruction no Open Office to be able to
fully adopt it, and I'm sure there's other topics we can put together. If
we were to get really organized we could set up some weekend in the spring,
rent / borrow a facility and put on a conference / training or some other
similar event. If we did something like this once a year, it might be
interesting to see how we can use this to keep the group together. Or maybe
this is more than we want to bite off.
A bit about myself. I still live in Flagstaff and still use Linux on a semi
regular basis. I'd also be willing to do a presentation on Linux use in
High Performance Compute Clusters and talk about building one that was 4,480
nodes and at the time was the 5th fastest supercomputer in the world per
top500.org (this is last summer.)
My challenges come from the fact that I travel in the neighborhood of 300
days a year mostly to work with Linux, enterprise planning, or HPCC
deployments. I'm with Curtis in that I'm generally only around on weekends
although I hope to have some sanity return to life next year.
So this is my completely random $.02 with some thoughts, an offer for a
presentation and some idea of where I'm at. Glad to see the list fire back
up.
