[Luna] Install fest?

Hi All,
Here's some better details. NAU is open to students (for
residence) starting on Aug 21. If we plan to post any flyers, this and
the 22nd would be the days. Classes start on the 28th. This means that
we should probably be on campus for installs on the 26th and 27th if
possible. The 28th wouldn't be a bad idea, but I don't think we'll have
as much "switch me" enthusiasm once classes begin.
There was talk last year about a centralized server for install
over the lan. Anyone have a suitable box for this?
Anyone interested in creating the flyers (not nessesarily
printing, but at least designing)? We should also see if Kinkos or
similar would donate 100 copies. If not, we might want to sell the lan
cables as fund raising for overhead of events... (we might also want to
buy a stack of dvdrs, so that we can provide a burned copy of the distro
that we install on anyones comp; again fund raising will help)
The website should be updated, so that it might be a better
resource for anyone that we convert. I'll start on this, but of course
would love input from others (Patrick, maybe we should meet to talk.)
I just called a friend at NAU, he is going to see if he can make
some space at the Union for us. If he can't then I'll contact reslife
about either the Union or one of the freshman dorms.
So that we might space out our meetings, I suggest that we meet on
Aug 9th to do a trial run of the install fest (still pending enough
interest). Our regular meeting could then be scheduled for the 23rd.
Cheers,
Kyle

I would like to see one happen. What week are you referring too? I am
not familiar with the NAU schedule. I can bring disks and I have a couple
old boxes and a very old laptop that only boots off floppies. I have a
couple CRT 17" monitors as well. I also have 500' CAT5e if you need and
along with tools and plugs. Let me know.

Howdy All,
At the last meeting, there was some talk about an install fest.
I'm looking to see who is interested and has the time and or other
resources avilable. The week before classes is coming up (Rush), and this
might be the best time to get a couple of students set up with FOSS.
Please email me if you would like to be involved, and what you can
do.
Kyle
